This project took up the entire quarter of my Textiles class. I wanted to create something beautiful from an unconventional source, knowing that prints and a collection would be developed as the end products. I decided early on to explore the different colors and imagery that could be found in fungi, thus leading me to curate multiple textile boards that involved different forms of embroidery, fabric manipulation, and dye techniques. To truly get a better understanding, I monitored my own mold cultures and observed their growth patterns and hyphae structures.


In addition to the boards, I also wrote down any research or ideas into a notebook that I kept all quarter. The notebook contains imagery that captured my imagination, quick sketches, trend predictions and any other relevant information. Later, I used research to create several motifs using Adobe Photoshop and Procreate (Savage Interactive Pty Ltd) to develop textile prints for scarves and a swimwear collection.
