The dress was an a part of an assignment provided by my Color Theory class. My focus was centered on my first memories of McDonalds and relating that to my career. Naturally, I relate fast food with fast fashion in the sense that both enable American consumerism, quantity over quality, and the overall lack of care for their workers and ethics. The dress being showcased is entirely made of plastic bags. If you look closely you will notice exposed seams, rough stitches, patches on the side, and more general flaws in the dress, all of which I’ve included to get my statement across. The black paint is representative of crude oil. That is the same ingredient both polyester and plastic are made of.
